An on-air date is yet to be announced for the multi-platform show, which has received funding by NZ on Air and will air over five consecutive nights on TVNZ 1.
It will tackle issues relating to the environment, the economy, technology and social issues.
Campbell told Barry on Breakfast this morning it was "nice to be back" on TV.
"This is a good project - it's a Nigel Latta driven project, and I'm a big fan of Nigel's work, I think he's fantastic, and these are questions we need to answer," Campbell told Barry.
"The intention of this programme is to have a big picture discussion about what we want for our future".

Campbell, who left Campbell Live and Mediaworks after the long-running show's axing in 2015, says he's "delighted" to be part of the show.
"To achieve the future we want, we need to make decisions that will create a country we're proud to pass down to the people who follow us," he said.
"This is a discussion with New Zealanders for New Zealanders and I'm delighted to be a part of it."
Campbell fronts the weekday afternoon show Checkpoint on Radio New Zealand.
Latta has fronted a lengthy list of topical investigative shows, including Mind Over Money with Nigel Latta and The Hard Stuff with Nigel Latta.
Other participants include social entrepreneur Derek Handley, Chief Executive of the McGuinness Institute Wendy McGuinness, indigenous social entrepreneur Shay Wright, tech innovator Frances Valintine, and Sacha McMeeking, co-founder of Tū Māia.
The show will run from Sunday to Thursday.
