The 53-year-old actor enjoyed a delicious meal at Chester restaurant at the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District, which is a "vibrant bar" that serves "traditional American food" according to its website, and made his server's night when he topped up their wages with the eye-watering sum of cash.
The big-hearted star dined with pals and the group were said to be in "good" spirits when they ordered sparkling water, a bottle of pinot noir wine, lemon chicken and a quinoa dish from the tantalising menu.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Everyone seemed to be in a good mood."
The Yes Man actor is not the only big star who likes to tip big when he goes out.
