SYDNEY - The lead singer of Aussie rock band Jet has been taken to hospital after collapsing during a London gig.
Nic Cester passed out twice during the gig at the Hard Rock Cafe in London on Monday night, joking with the audience that he'd been treated for swine flu, the band's website says.
Despite efforts to continue the gig, the band had to call an early end to the performance.
Cester was rushed to University College Hospital, where he was treated for symptoms of gastroenteritis, acute vomiting and dehydration.
A statement issued by the band's management said the singer was still in hospital undergoing further tests for the illness.
"Jet is just completing their second trip around the world in support of the upcoming release of Shaka Rock," said Josh Klemme, from Tenth Street Entertainment.
"Hopping from airplane to airplane, city to city and country to country could compromise anyone's health.
"Nic's drive to give it his all and get up on stage to perform despite feeling ill is a testament to how strongly he and the band feel about (the upcoming album)".
Jet will release their new album Shaka Rock on September 7.
The band are most famous for their single Are You Gonna Be My Girl, which was used in an iPod advertising campaign.
