Jessica Simpson's appearance on The Ellen Show this week is making headlines, due to the sometime singer's bizarre behaviour.
The 36-year-old mum of two frequently slurred her words and told meandering anecdotes that left host Ellen DeGeneres lost for words.
Simpson's greeting set the tone for the five-minute interview, as she noted she'd been pregnant during her past two appearances on the show: "Very exciting! I'm not pregnant on your show. Oh gesh, no. We have an IUD, it's ... nothing gonna get in that uterus."
From there, she launched into a story about her kids' recent mermaid-themed birthday party - complete with children's entertainers swimming in the backyard pool dressed as mermaids.
"Silicone tails," she announced out of nowhere. "They had ... manhandlers. It's not called manhandlers ... No ... they had to be carried if they had to pee ... cos they can't pee on my children in the pool. They pick 'em up, and carry 'em ... It's a, it's a business."
You following? DeGeneres changed tack, asking Simpson how long she'd been with her husband. The response was Anna Nicole levels of incoherent.
"Seven years now. Well, coming on seven years. Well actually, seven. It's a long time. I don't know if I've ever had a seven-year relationship. Other than with a woman. Well, not that kind."
By this point, DeGeneres had resorted to mugging into the camera, perhaps trying to telepathically send out an SOS to viewers at home:
Simpson told the host that she shared a loving relationship with her husband, who massages her back every night - even if he's asleep.
"Even if he's snoring, somehow he knows how to massage my back. It's a very awesome talent."
"Maybe he's not really sleeping, Jessica. Seriously Jessica, he's not asleep," said an exasperated Ellen.
After more meandering chat in which Ellen remarked that her guest was now the head of a billion-dollar fashion empire ("Isn't it awesome? It can happen for anybody!" exclaimed Simpson), they wrapped the conversation discussing Simpson's imminent return to music.
"I have about 38, so maybe 36, or 39 [songs]" said Simpson.
"You DON'T have 38 songs. I doubt it," said Ellen, clearly losing patience by this point.
"We're going to take a break."
This isn't the first time a Jessica Simpson TV appearance has raised eyebrows - back in 2015, she shocked viewers during a stint on the Home Shopping Network when she appeared to be drunk on air.
Speaking about a pair of her line's grey jeans, she rambled: "Ashlee is like the best at wearing grey ... my sister ... Like, she's very rock'n'roll, but there's something about a grey ... that's like ... sexy.
"Maybe it's her and her husband, they share jeans ... I have no idea ... I dunno, there's just something hot about them."
