Jay Leno was in a speedway car as it flipped and rolled

The chaos inside the car as it rolled was also caught on camera.

Jay Leno is lucky to be alive after a driving stunt went wrong on his TV show.

The former talk show host, who now has a show called Jay Leno's Garage, was involved in a terrifying car crash at a Speedway in California.

For a segment on the show, Leno arranged to be a passenger in a car while it did "wheel stands", which is basically where the vehicle's two front wheels are lifted off the ground.

But the ride, which Leno said "has been on my bucket list ever since I was a kid," didn't go as planned.

Veteran driver Bob Riggle lost control of the car which flipped and rolled at least four times.

Somehow neither Riggle or Leno were injured and the TV star even walked away from the crash with a huge grin on his face.

"It doesn't get more exciting than that," he said.

The crash was only the second accident that Riggle has had in the car in 50 years of racing.
