KEY POINTS:
David Beckham blushed and became visibly embarrassed during an appearance on The Tonight Show when asked about his near naked underwear ads.
The soccer superstar squirmed in his seat while being quizzed by host Jay Leno about the smouldering advertising campaign for Emporio Armani.
The photos feature Beckham reclining on a bed wearing only white briefs.
"Do you normally sit around the house like this?" asked Leno, while the camera zoomed in on a huge billboard of the ad as the audience clapped and cheered.
Beckham, 32, revealed he was nervous while shooting the ad because he was worried what his mother would think.
"I was so nervous about doing that campaign because obviously I've done photo shoots before, but I've never done photo shoots in my underwear!" he said.
"I was quite nervous because obviously I knew my wife and friends were going to see it. And my mum was going to see it. When the photos first came out, she was the first one to call me and say, 'What are you doing?' I had to try and explain it to her and it didn't really go down that well."
Beckham also apologised to Leno for bringing the paparazzi into the neighbourhood where they both live, and talked of his wife, 'Posh Spice' Victoria Beckham.
"She's the funny one in the family. I'm really not funny."
Beckham joked about how he and Victoria first met, saying: "I like to say she was stalking me."
