Jay-Jay Harvey has been confirmed as the first Dancing With the Stars contestant for 2015

Radio host Jay-Jay Harvey has been confirmed as the first contestant to compete on a new reboot of Dancing With the Stars.

Harvey will be partnered with South African dancer Enrique Johns, who she has reportedly nicknamed "Brown Sugar".

MediaWorks announced it would bring back the dancing competition to New Zealand television this year after TVNZ dropped the show in 2009.

No official launch date has been announced but the Herald understands it is slated for the end of this month and will take over X Factor's Sunday and Monday night slots.

However, inside sources have told the Herald producers are still searching for contestants to complete the line up.

Last month, MediaWorks announced Dominic Bowden and Sharyn Casey will host the TV3 series, which will feature 10 Kiwi celebrities each paired with a professional dancer.

Each couple will be scrutinised by a judging panel and fans of the show, ahead of weekly eliminations. Former host Candy Lane has already confirmed her return as a judge.

Bowden, who was a backstage host on the US version of the show last year, told Woman's Day he is a "pretty epic dancer".

"I've been practising the lawn mower and the dolphin dive in the privacy of my own home, so you never know - I could whip them out at some point," he said.

Casey told the magazine she too had dancing experience after being crowned the "South Canterbury tap-dancing champion".

"I'm amazing at the running man, so I can certainly teach the contestants a thing or two if they need any help."

Other rumoured contestants include former Block competitor Damo Neal and former Shortland Street actress Teuila Blakely, according to the Herald on Sunday's Spy column.
