LONDON - Aussie actor Jason Donovan has recounted how he snorted so much cocaine during Kate Moss' 21st birthday party he collapsed and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.
In an extract from his autobiography, the former Neighbours star confesses to being unable to "party with the big boys" during the 1995 bash at Los Angeles' infamous Viper Room.
"With my hotel just a stone's throw from the club, my plan was to leave my drugs in my room and return there as and when I needed them," Donovan says in Between the Lines: My Story Uncut, being serialised this week in Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper.
"It seemed like a good plan, but as the night went on I found myself running back and forth like a crazed dog, desperate not to miss the party yet hungry for my next fix."
Donovan said he collapsed on the dance floor as the now deceased INXS frontman Michael Hutchence sang Van Morrison's hit Gloria accompanied by Johnny Depp on guitar.
"I'd tried to party with the big boys, tried to be so very rock 'n' roll ... who was I trying to fool?" Donovan writes.
"There was nothing rock 'n' roll about me. I was a little kid from Melbourne, the boy from Neighbours, Jason Donovan with his cheesy hits and his teen fans, Joseph with his Technicolor Dreamcoat."
