Jane Seymour
says she's sorry for gossiping about the headline-hogging break-up of
Maria Shriver
and
Arnold Schwarzenegger
.
The former Bond Girl raised eyebrows at the red carpet premiere of her new flick,
Love, Marriage, Wedding
on May 17 when she waded in on Arnie's love child scandal.
that Schwarzenegger "was obviously jumping the gun before everyone else told the world the news. And from what I gather there will be lots of information coming people's way.
"I heard about two more children. I met someone who knows him well."
The British actress concluded, "I feel sorry for the kids."
Scandalous!
Eyebrows were raised and judgmental fingers feverishly wagged as Seymour's prediction was smeared across the tabloids. But alas, the erstwhile Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman star spoke out a few days later to insist she had been misquoted.
Seymour claimed that the press had distorted her comments and that she never meant to imply she had a direct line to the font of all Schwarzenegger gossip.
"I was highly and purposely misquoted by the press," she told
. "It pains me enormously."
Seymour explained that she was merely riding on the back of reports which alleged that Arnie's love child count was no longer in the land of single digits.
"I obviously said the wrong thing... I feel terribly sorry for Maria and the kids. It must be incredibly hard, particularly for the children," Seymour lamented.
"In retrospect, going down that press line, I should have just shut my mouth and said nothing."
Seymour apologised for the remarks again on
The View
on Friday, saying she was "so beyond sorry and appalled" for gossiping that Arnie had other secret spawn out of wedlock.
"I am so beyond sorry and appalled that I found myself even talking on the subject at all," she said.
"You have to understand, I didn't go out of my way to make this, have this conversation. It was the premiere of my movie which had a very similar theme and that's why they asked me about it," she told the

hosts.
"I don't know anything about any love children, anything that I said was stupidly listening to some stuff in the media that day, everyone was talking - I don't even know where I heard it. I don't know anything about anything," Seymour said.
"Unfortunately, the way it all got put together is beyond embarrassing, and I just feel so, so badly for Maria and the children. I've been through similar kind of stuff and I just hope they'll accept my apology and realise I do not want to in anyway exacerbate the pain that family's going through."
Open mouth, insert foot, and issue mea culpa. Job done.

Lindsay Lohan: Art muse?
She might be under house arrest after her latest brush with the law, but that doesn't mean tabloid magnet
Lindsay Lohan
hasn't got time to lark about in the name of art.
The embattled star appears in a new 90-second "art film" by painter/filmmaker
Richard Phillips
, imaginatively-titled...
Lindsay Lohan
.
It's a non-speaking part for our LiLo. But she has a whale of a time larking about in her bra and panties, while swimming in the ocean and throwing plenty of 'arty' pouts at the camera.
Phillips said of the Lohan video: "Lindsay has an incredible emotional and physical presence on screen that holds an existential vulnerability while harnessing the power of the transcendental, the moment in transition.
"She is able to connect with us past all of our memory and projection, expressing our own inner eminence."
But is it art?
The video will exhibit at the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Venice, Italy, from June 1-5.
Meanwhile...Lohan is making the most of her house arrest.
While confined to her Venice, California home for what's thought to be around 35 days, Lohan is believed to have taken up a new hobby to keep herself occupied.
A source tells TMZ, "(She's taking the) time to relax, focus on her recovery and figure out her new game plan for her life and career."
The website reports that the actress has stocked up on art canvases "so she can paint to release the stress" of her tumultuous life. Better out than in, eh LiLo.
She'll get around to her new hobby, just as soon as she's
