David Simon, the creative brain behind the two popular series, The Wire and Treme, is planning a series on the porn industry which will star James Franco.
Titled, The Deuce, the series will explore legalisation and rise of the porn industry in the 1970s in New York, emergence of the AIDS virus and impact of drugs, among other issues, reported the US media.
The series is partially inspired by the real life story of twin brothers Vincent and Frankie Martino, to be played by James Franco.
Actors Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Carr, Margarita Levieva, Lawrene Gilliard Jr., Emily Meade and Dominique Fishback are also part of the series cast.
David Simon, who recently worked with HBO and Guatemalan-origin actor Oscar Isaac in the acclaimed political miniseries Show Me a Hero, has been roped in as the scriptwriter for The Deuce along with his usual collaborator, George Pelecanos.
