If you're a fan of industrial metal noisemakers like Tool and Isis, you'll no doubt also be a fan of Hawkes Bay trio Jakob.
The trio's pounding, yet rhythmical instrumental grooves have graced the same stages as those bands, and anyone who's seen them perform live knows exactly what kind of sonic force Jakob can be.
Well, there's good news in store: Jakob will release the follow-up to their highly regarded 2006 album, Solace, this October.
But their fourth record, Sines, hasn't been an easy album for them to make, with injuries to band members impeding the album's creation and causing them to pull out of a massive European tour last year.
TimeOut has had a sneaky listen to the album, and we can confirm they're in fine form, with waves of gigantic metal grooves crashing over sweeping textures and lush atmospheres.
