Jade Goody's young sons will fly to Australia to escape the sadness of next weekend's funeral for the British reality TV star, who died a week ago after suffering from cancer, a British newspaper has reported.
Bobby, five, and Freddie, four, will leave on Monday with their father, TV presenter Jeff Brazier, to visit the Gold Coast and see close friends in Melbourne, the News of the World reported.
"To say the boys are excited is the understatement of the year," the tabloid quoted an un-named friend of Brazier as saying.
"They keep saying: 'Daddy, when are we going, when can we see the kangaroos?'
"Jeff knows how much they loved their mother but he feels they need to get right away from the media glare. You can't get much further away than Australia."
The move was in line with Goody's dying wish and, according to the friend, Brazier said the argument for taking the boys away from the funeral and allowing them to "remember their mum as she was" outweighed the reasons to attend. Goody's funeral will be held at a church near her home in Essex, south-east England, on April 4.
The 27-year-old died on March 22 after suffering from cervical cancer, which spread.
