LONDON - Cancer-stricken reality TV star Jade Goody is said to be close to death, according to British media reports.
The 27-year-old former Big Brother contestant's condition deteriorated over the weekend and, while she spent much of the day sleeping and under sedation, she was visited by sons Bobby, five, and Freddy, four, the Daily Mail reported.
Publicist Max Clifford told the newspaper's website: "We're on the edge of a precipice. Nobody knows when she's going to step off, whether it will be five minutes or five days.
"At the moment she's heavily sedated and most of the day she is deep in sleep.
"She's getting weaker, she's fading, but she's got a big heart which is probably why she's still alive.
"But she's where she wanted to be with the people she wanted to be with in her final hours."
Goody, who shot to fame in the third UK series of Big Brother in 2002, allowed television cameras to document her battle with the illness and her wedding to 21-year-old Jack Tweed on February 22.
She was diagnosed with cervical cancer during filming of the Indian version of Big Brother last August.
That television appearance came after Goody sparked outrage in Britain and India when she was accused of bullying and racism towards Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.
The pair have become friends since the row.
Goody learned earlier this year that her cancer had spread and was terminal.
She recently told OK! magazine she hoped people would think of her as "a mouthy bird - the one who irritated and entertained people in equal measure".
She added: "I've achieved more in 27 years than some achieve in a lifetime.
"I could bitch about dying young but at the end of the day I can look back on my life and be proud of what I've done."
Goody has told her sons, whose father is TV presenter Jeff Brazier, she will soon be in heaven.
Goody was discharged from hospital last Thursday after saying she wanted to die at home.
Tweed has been allowed to break a curfew, imposed after his release from prison for hitting a teenager with a golf club, to be by his new wife's side.
Under the original conditions of his release, he was required to be at his mother's house between 7pm and 7am.
