MUSIC
The party of the weekend has to be Kitty, Daisy and Lewis who play at the Leigh Sawmill Cafe on Saturday and The Powerstation on Sunday.
Kitty, who at 17 (turning 18 this week) is the youngest of the siblings, says last time the family band was in New Zealand they attracted a very retired crowd, so they are looking forward to seeing if their nostalgic blues/country/rock 'n' roll rhythms attract some of the nana-chic youngsters this time around.
And for something much more Brooklyn-street, rapper Mos Def heads our way for his first solo show at the Powerstation on Wednesday.
MOVIES
If you liked the outfit she previewed at the video music awards last year you might like Cher's latest movie Burlesque, where she stars alongside Christina Aguilera.
This week's flick with the ensemble cast of big names is The Dilemma - Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder, Vince Vaughn and Channing Tatum are joined by Queen Latifah.
And the one with the profound themes is Desert Flower, an adaptation of Waris Dirie's harrowing but hopeful autobiographical tale.
TV
