The New Zealand International Film Festival has confirmed four more additions to its July Auckland and Wellington programmes, including the Peter Jackson-Fran Walsh produced documentary West of Memphis.
The doco, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, is another screen study of the case about the conviction and jailing of three teenagers, Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley - the so-called Memphis Three - for the 1993 murders of three eight-year-old boys. Jackson and Walsh became passionate and financial supporters of the three who were finally released last year but whose convictions are yet to be overturned.
The other titles include Bernie, the new Richard Linklater movie starring Jack Black, Bully the headline-making US documentary by Lee Hirsh, and First Position a doco about an American ballet competition.
