KEY POINTS:
By snaffling this show, which caused a buzz overseas, C4 is building up a reputation for screening some cult comedy gems.
The channel has just added the messed-up sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Wednesdays 9.30pm) to its line-up and that's on top of animated shows such as Family Guy, American Dad and King of the Hill.
The Mighty Boosh was developed as a stage show by its stars Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt and then became a radio show, before being translated to TV.
Fielding and Barratt play zookeepers Vince Noir and Howard Moon respectively, who are continually at odds with the owner of the "Zooniverse", Dixon Bainbridge (Matt Berry), and his manager Bob Fossil (Rich Fulcher).
However, Noir (the loveable rogue) and Moon (the uptight geek) get help from Naboo (Fielding again), the shaman who runs the fortune-telling kiosk at the Zooniverse.
He might be constantly stoned, but he and Bollo, a gorilla who leaves the zoo to become a DJ, always manage to rescue the zookeepers from trouble.
And there's plenty of trouble as Moon and Noir frequently leave the zoo to head off on adventures deep in the jungle or in the harsh climes of the Arctic.
Throw in some elaborate musical numbers and you have a show that reflects a crazy little world where continuity is disregarded.
Tonight, Fossil sets up an illegal boxing match between a kangaroo and Moon, who thinks if he wins the fight he will impress the Head of Reptiles, Mrs Gideon (Victoria Wicks).
