What's top of your Christmas wish list this year - excluding world peace?
I want the All Blacks to win the World Cup. And then, after that, world peace.
As a wee 'un, what was the one present you always wanted but never got?
A dog. My Dad gave me some marigold seeds and said 'Why don't you try looking after them instead?' They died, so the dog probably would have too.
Do you still want it?
God no. But I'd quite like some marigolds. I feel I can be trusted with them now. I'm a dad after all.
Defining moment of 2006, for you personally:
The birth of my daughter Lily.
Most overrated thing/person/topic of the year:
The outcry over Iran and North Korea breaching the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty. Why no outcry, or even mention, of Israel or America's nuclear programmes? Both of them are aggressively and illegally occupying foreign soil and both have been developing their nuclear programmes with total disregard for the same Non-proliferation Treaty for years. Why is it never put in that context?
Album of the year:
Brian Eno - Another Day on Earth.
Movie/DVD of the year:
King Kong - so beautiful.
Person of the year:
My wife Melissa for having Lily. Less selfishly, the late great Rod Donald: a very rare combination of generosity, intelligence and common sense.
The most important lesson you learned this year was ...
Babies can projectile poo.
New Year's resolution for 2007:
Help out more around the house.
Your prediction for 2007's next big thing ...
The Rugby World Cup. Unless we lose. But the All Blacks are phenomenal at the moment and they're just getting better, so we won't lose. Unless we're poisoned again, like in 1995.
