KEY POINTS:
First, it has to be said, for fans of Tim Armstrong, and his band Rancid and side project the Transplants, of which there are many, this is a dream package consisting of an album and a DVD featuring 10 new videos.
Well, that's if you haven't already got many of these tracks for free since Armstrong offered them up to fans on the internet starting back in April.
While it's a must for fans, to some non-believers it might seem a little pointless.
Backed by reggae act the Aggrolites, who are on Armstrong's Hellcat record label, the punk rock revivalist sings his way, in his distinctive spoken word-cum-rap, through 10 uplifting and dancey - but still quite politically charged - reggae and ska tunes.
The chink of ska especially has always been an influence in the more gritty sound of Rancid.
Tracks like the bouncy and catchy pop of Hold On and Into Action are infectious but disposable.
It's the more traditional reggae of Inner City Violence and Cold Blooded, a song that would do the great dub exponent Augustus Pablo proud, that are the real highlights of this album.
Plus, you can't fault a guy for giving a little love and something different back to his fans.
Label: Hellcat
Verdict: Punk rock legend puts on his reggae/ska boots and dances
