A British researcher believes he's discovered the saddest song of all time: It's Everybody Hurts by defunct alt-rock act REM.
The researcher, theatrical producer David King, surveyed British music fans to find out what kind of music made them cry, The Telegraph reported.
Everybody Hurts was voted No. 1, followed by Elton John's Candle in the Wind in second place and The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics at No. 3.
King also discovered that seven out of 10 men had cried after listening to a song.
The figure was higher for a woman, with 9 out of 10 tearing up over a tune.
