A local movie chain is trialling the idea of a New Zealand Movie Month, with plans to make it an annual event if it becomes popular enough.
Event Cinemas is trialling the idea of an "unofficial festival" during New Zealand Music Month, offering up to eight New Zealand films to viewers throughout the month of May.
Those films include newbies The Most Fun You Can Have Dying, Good For Nothing and music documentary Shihad: Beautiful Machine, as well as classics Goodbye Pork Pie, The Frighteners and War Stories Our Mothers Never Told Us.
Recent releases Sione's 2: Unfinished Business and My Wedding And Other Secrets will also get repeat screenings during the month, as well as limited runs of other Kiwi classics.
Screening times for the Unofficial New Zealand Movie Month can be found here.
