KEY POINTS:
More than 100 figures from the music industry turned out last night for the start of New Zealand Music Month in Auckland. Minuit played a set to kick off the event, which will see 450 gigs played over the next 31 days. Music Month - now in its eighth year - was created to increase exposure for Kiwi musicians on television and radio.
Check out our photos from the launch party held in Parnell last night, and be sure to keep coming back throughout the month for continued coverage of the latest music news, reviews and concerts.
And don't forget to have your say on the best New Zealand song ever.
To celebrate NZ Music month our Kiwi song face off will run each week day until the end of the month, with each day's winner coming back in the next day's poll. Just visit our Entertainment home page.
You can also send in your views on what you think is the best song - just click on the 'Send us your views' link in the green bubble to the right.
