My favourite summer holiday getaway is ...
Going on camping trips with friends to Waipoua Forest ... and then heading on to the Far North beaches like Rarawa where the sand squeaks under foot and the pohutukawa are heavy with burning red blossom.
I love it because ...
There is nowhere else in the world where you can be among such beauty with no one around. And, hopefully, we will keep the conservation staunch so it doesn't change.
If the weather's fine, you'll find me out and about at ...
In Auckland, I like to get to the nearest water, the west coast.
In late summer, I go to the Parnell pools for a soak. If I'm lucky I get to go out on the harbour and go to Tiritiri Matangi or one of the other islands.
Or just lying in a deckchair ...
... Or doing yoga, reading books ... I'm definitely a bit of a bookworm. I've just been in Europe and London for five months so I'm reading Samuel Pepys ... the gritty reality of living in London in the 17th century. And all the Observer women's mags I collected and brought back.
TV shows I can't miss ...
I have just been given the new David Attenborough Planet Earth series, it's incredible. After watching the Blue Planet wrapped in a duvet and drinking Spanish rum at my brother's in the freezing Northern Hemisphere, I've become immersed in this series.
Websites to check out ... David Shrigley a weird Glasgow artist (davidshrigley.com), updating our goldenhorse.co.nz site. Check out our new video for Germany on youtube.com.
Holiday food means ...
Cooking lots of summer salads and just enjoying seasonal produce, organic if I can afford it.
And when the sun goes down it's time for ...
Well that's just private isn't it? I don't kiss and tell, though it will definitely involve drinking some great kiwi pinot.
On New Year's Eve I'll be celebrating ...
At the Aotea centre with Goldenhorse and 2500 other Aucklanders.
* Goldenhorse are also playing January 3, Stonyridge Vineyard, Waiheke; January 4, Sawmill Cafe, Leigh.
