4.55PM Just when you thought it would never end, we're finally at the last award - Best Picture.
Arnie steps out to present the award, on crutches. Despite the Brits' solid reign on the evening, they don't take the top prize, which goes to Babel. Unexpected, to say the least.
4.51PM Felicity Huffman presents the most talked about category of the evening - Best Actor in a drama.
Despite two nominations, Leo fails to win the prize, which goes to Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland. Clearly stunned, Whitaker has difficulty breathing let alone talking.
4.45PM We're cracking through now. Philip Seymour Hoffman presents Best Actress in a drama.
Surprise, surprise, Helen Mirren takes the prize for her majestic role in The Queen.
4.43PM Husband and wife team Courteney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette present the Best Drama Series award. Ever-popular Grey's Anatomy takes the prize.
4.37PM J Lo is clearly determined to wrap up the evening soon, racing through the Best Picture - Musical or Comedy nominees. And the Golden Globe goes to... Dreamgirls.
Award producers are obviously concerned they're about to run out of time as the film's producer is given about 10 seconds to speak before the music comes on, telling him to get off.
4.27 Yowzers - Reese Witherspoon steps out in a dazzling yellow cocktail dress to announce the Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical.
Justice is served when Sacha Baron Cohen claims the prize and the world finally hears the comedian's real voice. Hands down the best acceptance speech of the night - and completely unsuitable for publication.
4.23PM Steven Spielberg steps up to the plate to present the first of the night's major awards - Best Director (which, for once, he's not up for).
It's a victory for Martin Scorsese and his New York gangster flick The Departed.
4.21PM Gosh, Beatty sure can talk. He's finally stepped off-stage so Dustin Hoffman can present the fourth Best Picture - Musical or Comedy nominee, Little Miss Sunshine.
3.58PM Tom Hanks (still sporting that awful hairstyle from The Da Vinci Code) comes on stage to make fun of Warren Beatty. Oh wait, apparently he's presenting the Cecil B. Demille Award for lifetime achievement.
As Hanks continues to refer to Beatty's "balls" raised eyebrows and awkward glances are exchanged across the theatre.
3.48PM Jennifer Love-Hewitt billows onto stage in a shimmering bronze gown to present Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.
It's a milestone for women everywhere when real-size star America Ferrera claims the prize for Ugly Betty. Cue more hysterical shrieking.
3.45PM Drew Barrymore looks positively glowing a blush pink gown, accompanied by the dashing Hugh Grant. The pair present Best Original Score to Alexandre Desplat for The Painted Veil.
3.43PM Award winner Jeremy Irons takes the stage for a second time this evening to present the fourth and favourite Best Picture nominee - The Queen.
3.38PM Another Hollywood veteran claims a prize. Clint Eastwood takes out the Best Foreign Language Film category for Letters from Iwo Jima.
3.33PM Dreamgirls star Jamie Foxx presents the third Best Picture - Musical or Comedy nominee, Dreamgirls. But not without giving a self-indulgent shout out to his co-stars. Needless to say, the rest of the room look less than impressed.
3.28PM Geena Davis and James Woods serve up the Best Series award for a musical or comedy.
Despite strong competition from Desperate Housewives, The Office, Weeds and Entourage, newcomer Ugly Betty takes the prize, much to the delight of its cast and crew. Cue hysterical shrieking now.
3.22PM Alec Baldwin takes Best Actor in a television musical or comedy for his role on 30 Rock.
3.20PM A stiff-looking Jake Gyllenhaal and bubbly Hilary Swank front up to announce the Best Screenplay award winner.
The Brits' golden run continues as Peter Morgan claims the prize for The Queen. He delivers an awkward political message before hastily running off stage. Smooth.
3.18PM Cameron Diaz takes the stage in a white, multi-tiered, organza creation to announce the third Best Picture nominee - The Departed.
3.12PM Helen Mirren claims what many suspect will be the first of several awards this year, as she picks up Best Actress in a miniseries or movie for her role as the Virgin Queen in Elizabeth I.
3.10PM Metallics and Grecian-style frocks are definitely the looks for this year's Globes. Sienna Miller combines the two as she presents Bill Nighy with Best Actor in a miniseries or movie for Gideon's Daughter.
3.05PM The ever-stylish Sarah Jessica Parker looks ravishing in a slim-fitting golden cocktail dress. Naturally, the fashionista is here to introduce the second Best Picture - Musical or Drama nominee - The Devil Wears Prada.
3PM Last year's Best Actress winner Rachel Weisz hands out the night's first surprise as Eddie Murphy takes the Best Supporting Actor gong for Dreamgirls, beating out favourites Brad Pitt and Jack Nicholson.
2.56PM Salma Hayek channels her inner-Greek goddess in a toga-inspired white frock, as she presents Best Miniseries or Movie.
It's looking to be a big night for the Brits as Elizabeth I takes the prize.
2.55PM Silver fox Ben Stiller (when did he go grey?) names Borat one of "the funniest movies ever" as he presents the first nominee for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy
2.45PM Joaquin Phoenix cuts to the chase as he presents the Best Actress globe for a musical or comedy.
Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep claims the prize for her role as steely editor Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.
2.42PM Office star Steve Carrell presents the inaugural Best Animated Film Golden Globe.
Pixar's family-hit Cars claims the award.
2.40PM A mildly dishevelled Charlie Sheen steps up to present the second Best Picture nominee - Bobby, which happens to be directed by his big brother Emilio Estevez.
2.32PM The cast of newly-debuted Heroes present the Best Actor globe in a drama.
Hugh Laurie wins for his role in House, amusing the audience with his quick British wit.
2.30PM Sean 'Diddy' Combs scrubs up nicely to present Best Supporting Actress in a series, miniseries or movie, alongside a glittering Jessica Biel.
A surprised looking Emily Blunt accepts the award for her role in Gideon's Daughter, offering a mumbled acceptance speech.
2.25PM Naomi Watts appears to present the first Best Picture nominee - Babel. She may have stumbled over the director's name (and the name of the film itself) but she still looks stunning a peacock blue, Grecian frock.
2.15PM Actress Kyra Sedgwick claims the Best Actress prize for her role on The Closer. Definite contender for worst Thank You speech of the night.
2.10PM Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria and Entourage star Adrian Grenier present Best Supporting Actor in a series, mini series or movie.
And the award goes to Jeremy Irons for his role as Elizabeth I's secret lover.
2.05PM Newly single Justin Timberlake takes the stage to hand out the the Best Orginal Song globe.
It's a triumph for dancing penguins everywhere as Happy Feet scores its first win for Song of the Heart by Prince.
2PM The stars are seated and we're straight into it. The delightful George Clooney presents the evening's first award - Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.
And the winner is... Leonardo DiCaprio. Good one George. Actually, it's Jennifer Hudson for Dreamgirls.
