KEY POINTS:
Music blared and the champagne flowed freely at Gate Two of Auckland International Airport on Friday, where musicians, media and MTV executives prepared to board the second annual Mile High Gig flight.
The Air New Zealand service carried various industry insiders to Sydney for the MTV Australia Awards, complete with in-flight performances by British rapper Dizzee Rascal and New Zealand's own Scribe.
Last year's inaugural Mile High Gig was a world first, with artists performing at 40,000ft.
Highlight: The rollicking tunes of the Electric Confectionaires, who played at the gate party before the flight, set the perfect tone for the weekend of musical madness ahead.
Lowlight: Not everybody at the gate party managed to wangle a much sought-after ticket to board the unique flight.
