KEY POINTS:
More than 300 mothers, daughters and the occasional son filled the grand ballroom of the Langham Hotel yesterday afternoon for a Mother's Day afternoon tea.
Sipping champagne and tea, guests were treated to platters of cucumber sandwiches, petits fours and other sweet treats while listening to a jazz trio.
TV presenter Alison Mau hosted the event, which raised money for the Breast Cancer Research Trust. Ten dollars of every ticket sold went to the trust, as did the profits of a silent auction run throughout the afternoon.
Mau was unable to spend the day with her mother, who lives in Australia, but instead treated her aunt and mother-in-law to an afternoon out.
World fashion designer Denise L'Estrange-Corbet also celebrated her Mother's Day at the Langham with her husband, Francis Hooper.
