KEY POINTS:
Hundreds of Aucklanders headed for Waiheke Island on Saturday for a day of drinking, dancing and relaxing at the inaugural Groove in the Vines event at Isola Estates in Onetangi.
The day-long festival featured live music from Batucada Sound Machine, Sola Rosa, Little Bushman and Kora.
Visitors settled in on picnic blankets and rugs, sampling the vineyard's wines and other local Waiheke produce.
Highlight
The excellent management of the event - there were plenty of supplies for all, and minimal queues.
Lowlight
The ferry ride home. Several hundred drunken revellers suddenly confined to the close quarters of a boat do not make for calm sailing.
