KEY POINTS:
Not everyone was at Eden Park or away for the long weekend on Saturday night; plenty of Aucklanders went to the Aotea Centre for A Night At The Movies.
Part of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra's Symphonic Pops series, this second concert combined memorable movie themes with the oomph of a live symphonic performance, led by the most un-diva-like diva, Helen Medlyn, marking her 15th year of appearances with the APO.
The movie themes from Spider-Man, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Psycho, Mission Impossible and James Bond were included, making it the perfect event for the whole family.
The next concert in the series is Showstoppers on October 27 featuring the best of Broadway and the West End performed by Deborah Wai Kapohe, Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Peter Cousens and Stuart Devenie.
