KEY POINTS:
The tables turned on diners at the Westpac Red Collection show, when plates were cleared and models strode down four long tables turned into runways in a spectacular fashion show.
The corporate event for the bank's best clients on Saturday night was also the first function of Air New Zealand Fashion Week, which was formally opened by the Prime Minister last night. The second annual Red Collection was held in the Big Tent at the old America's Cup sheds on Halsey St which this week transforms into fashion central for trade and public shows by leading and upcoming New Zealand designers.
As well as showings from Zambesi, Liz Mitchell, Yvonne Bennetti, Tanya Carlson, Trelise Cooper, Huffer and Adrienne Winkelmann, stylist Margaret Petchell mixed their garments together in a futuristic take on summer styles.
MC Ricardo Simich showed his fashionable side with a new look and by running an impromptu fashion show among the 360 guests.
This was judged by the bank's new CEO Brad Cooper from those who made the most inventive use of a Westpac red scarf that had been required for entry to the event. The lucky winner took home a coveted Prada for LG phone for their trouble. All finalists bravely trod upon the tables - with no unfortunate tumbling.
HIGHPOINT
From jaded fashionistas to fashion newbies, all enjoyed the drama of using the tables as runways and seeing fashion in a social setting.
LOWPOINT
It's Fashion Week now models, so come on, get the pedicures and fake tans sorted, especially for up-close-and-personal assignments, and speed through those changes so the show doesn't slow.
