KEY POINTS:
The Flight of the Conchords manager Murray was at last night's music awards. In spirit anyway. And this is how it went.
"Hello everybody, my name is Murray Hewitt. I'm proud to announce for the second time tonight that I am the manager of the band Flight of the Conchords. The first time I had to announce it was when I failed to gain entry into the event. Somehow my name wasn't on the door list. I blame Greg for that. Greg works for me in New York, but more about him later.
I knew from the moment Bret and Jemaine walked into my office that I was onto a winning formula: two coollooking guys, cashless and in need of some guidance. The fact that they're musicians was simply a bonus. Especially in the music industry.
My extensive music knowledge (I have over 50 CDs, although it is worth noting that one has gone missing from my car) coupled with my paperwork skills has simply led us here today.
The Conchords have what I like to call the A-factor. You look at them and go . . . eh?
That's where I came in. A born leadermyself with blind enthusiasm, it really has been 'the blind leading the blind'. Unfortunately, the guys themselves couldn't be here tonight due to a miscalculation on my part with the aeroplane booking. However, if this event was to be held next Thursday night you would've surely seen them here to accept this award.
Thanks very much everybody, and oh and I don't really have anything more to say about Greg.
[Murray walks off stage the wrongway, and talks to a glamorous girl onway out.] Is there an after-party? I feel like dancing . . . how do you feel?"
