Nothing Brazilian metal brothers Max and Igor Cavalera did following Max's messy departure from Sepultura in 1996 has ever had quite the same potency as their old band.
With new vocalist Derrick Green, Sepultura didn't quite cut it, and while the world-metal of Max's Soulfly had its moments you knew he was capable of something more powerful.
Twelve years on, the brothers are back together, with a line-up completed by Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo and Joe Duplantier from French metal titans Gojira on bass, and the primal brutality of Sepultura has been resurrected.
Right from first track Inflikted, with its scything groove of twin guitars and squealing sonics, and Max's rabid roar, you can feel the pent-up frustrations of being apart - hey, they're Brazilian, family are important - being vented.
This is a raging beast from start to finish and the Cavalera brothers haven't sounded this fearsome and good since Sepultura's 1996 classic Roots.
