'I thought we were inseparable' - Kate Winslet's ex slams split

He goes there: Kate Winslet's former flame Louis Dowler is flipping open the ex files and smarting over his break-up with the Contagion star.

Winslet, 36, dated the male model shortly after her split from hubby Sam Mendes in 2010.

But their relationship went sour and hit the skids during a holiday on Sir Richard Branson's Caribbean hideaway on Necker Island in August, which ended with the actress rescuing the Virgin tycoon's mother from a blazing inferno.

"She (Winslet) was staying there with her children and in fact it was she who carried my mother out of the house," Branson said at the time.

"She swept her up into her arms and got them out of the house as fast as possible."

Gossip has it that Winslet left shortly thereafter and jetted off to New York - not with dashing Burberry model Dowler, but with Branson's nephew Ned Rocknroll.

Oh, the scandal!

Speaking for the first time since he was dumped, Dowler now claims that Winslet didn't treat him well during their break-up.

"I don't think Kate behaved well and it is still very raw for me," he told the Daily Mail.

"I was in love with her and you can't switch that off overnight. I'm not sure Kate treated me well."

"Kate came home with me to Cornwall and we just hung out together," he said. "She met my parents and family."

He continued: "I thought we were inseparable. I certainly haven't found anyone else since.

"I don't want to go into details but it wasn't a straightforward break-up. I'm a laid-back guy, so I am not walking around with a long face - but I do still hold a torch for her."

Someone needs a shoulder to cry on. Ladies, rev up your engines!

'It's really weird...'

Pumped, stoked and rubbing her hands with glee over the royalty cheques? Nah, try weirded out.

"At the end of the day, it's weird," Winslet tells Stylist.com.

"It's really weird because it's 15 years ago and I don't know, I feel very disconnected now from actually what was going on in my life at the time and how I felt.

"A lot of it, it does really feel like a distant memory, so it's going to be quite strange to have that sort of thrusted into people's face all over again."
