Hyped game Watch Dogs gets delayed till 2014

One of the year's most hyped releases has been delayed until 2014.

Watch Dogs - an action-stealth game in which players have to hack their way into buildings, phones and computer systems - was due to be released in November across all platforms.

But in a statement released today, developers Ubisoft said it would be delayed until Autumn, 2014.

The statement delaying the release of one of the year's most hyped games was a tough decision, but developers said they weren't prepared to "compromise on quality" and needed time to "fine tune every detail".

"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming.

"It is with this in mind that we've made the tough decision to delay the release until Autumn 2014," the statement said.

"We know a lot of you are probably wondering, 'Why now?' We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality.

"As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune every detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience."

Watch Dogs has won several awards at pre-shows, including GameSpot's People's Choice Most Exciting Game of E3 2013.
