Hugh Jackman's wife tired of gay rumours

Actor Hugh Jackman's wife Deborra-Lee Furness is tired of hearing rumours the Les Miserables star is gay.

The couple has been married since 1996, but Jackman is still dogged by gossip about his sexuality, especially after playing openly-gay icon Peter Allen in the Broadway musical The Boy From Oz.

And the 44-year-old admits the constant speculation their marriage is just a cover-up has really upset his actress wife.

"Just recently, it bugs her. She goes, 'It's big. It's everywhere (on the internet)!"' Jackman told The Hollywood Reporter.

However, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner insists all critics need to do is see the pair together and they'll be convinced their relationship isn't just for show.

"I have seen him with Deborra since the beginning of their trip to Hollywood, and I've been on five movie sets with him and have never seen him stray, have never seen him eye anyone," Donner said.

"I met him when he did Oklahoma! (at London's Royal National Theatre). He was genuine, hugely talented. He was in love with his wife that day and still is."
