Selfies are the scourge of British comedienne Jennifer Saunders's existence.
"I find it really boring. People used to ask you questions. You could have a conversation with them," said the Absolutely Fabulous star in Sydney ahead of the State Theatre premiere of Edina and Patsy's movie debut.
"Now all they want is the photo. You don't even matter. All they want is the proof.
"And the number of people who go 'Oh, no, no that doesn't look very good. Can you move over here?
"But in the old days you used to have to write out "For Muriel and Jim Happy Anniversary". This is much quicker in a way. I can go very fast."
The two women were in Sydney to promote Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, in which their much-loved, hard-partying characters are forced to flee to the French Riviera after accidentally killing English supermodel Kate Moss.
Twenty-four years after making their debut on British television, the much-loved, Bollinger-swigging duo have finally made it to the big screen. And apart from upgrading to a more picturesque location, the two women haven't changed a bit.
A tip for fans who are still brave enough to front Saunders on the red carpet? Be honest.
"When people ask for a selfie they always precede (their request) with: 'I know you hate this'," says the comedian.
