He gained a legion of admirers in 2013 when he became the Man Of Steel.
But trading in his cape for a job with the CIA, Henry Cavill makes the dapper transformation from superhero to suave spy in the first official trailer for The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Taking on the role of charming American agent Napoleon Solo, the 31-year-old takes the lead as he joins forces with a former foe to take down an international criminal organisation.
The trailer begins with Cavill crouched down in the backseat of a car as he questions co-star Alicia Vikander (who plays Gaby Teller) about a vehicle they are being followed by.
As she subtly answers his question, the British actor then advises her on what to do before quickly firing two shots out of the back window.
Setting the pace of the two minute clip, Vikander then leads a high speed chase in which she manages to outwit the Armie Hammer (who plays Russian KGB agent Illya Kuryakin) causing him to crash and get stuck between a flight of stairs.
Giving fans of the upcoming movie more of what they can expect from the action comedy, the plot then comes into play as Cavill's mission is explained.
Learning that he'll have to work alongside agent Kuryakin in order to avoid global catastrophe at the hands of the villains, Cavill is less than impressed with the idea of working with the Russian.
Quickly sizing one another up, the two spies show off their combat skills as they enjoy a sparring session in the men's toilet.
Agreeing that they work better alone, the handsome pair then find a way to come together to successfully complete their mission all the while putting their gun wielding techniques on display and their way with the ladies.
Revealing he was well prepared to take on the role of agent Kuryakin, Hammer told Entertainment Weekly: 'I moved to the Soviet Union for six years.
"It was time travel as well as location. The jet lag is a killer."
