In more up and coming gig news Michael Franti and Spearhead return to New Zealand for a show on October 7 at the Powerstation.
The political poet, songwriter, and musician, whose past bands have included industrial hip-hop outfits the Beatnigs and the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, tours in support of Spearhead's seventh album, All Rebel Rockers.
Meanwhile, Australian-based Kiwi singer Jon Stevens is coming home for two unplugged concerts, including a show at Auckland's Kings Arms on November 14. It's been 30 years since he hit the top of the pops with Jezebel and Montego Bay and now the lad from Upper Hutt is set to celebrate with a show made up of songs from throughout his career.
And it must nearly be summer because The Feelers are hitting the road for The Heartland Tour which takes in town halls in out of the way places. The closest venue to Auckland is the show on October 9 at the Kaukapakapa Hall in Kaipara. For full tour details go to thefeelers.co.nz.
And lastly two smaller-name bands, Australian hardcore act Carpathian and Californian punks Lagwagon, are also touring. Carpathian play September 25 at Whammy Bar and then at Clockwork Studios in Ellerslie on September 28, and Lagwagon storm the Kings Arms on November 13.
