He wasn't expecting that: Jamie Lawson cancels NZ tour

Jamie Lawson has apologised for the cancellation but did not give a reason.

UK singer/songwriter Jamie Lawson has cancelled his upcoming tour of New Zealand.

Lawson had two shows this weekend, the first at Auckland's Powerstation on Saturday and the other an all-ages show at the Isaac Theatre Royal on Sunday.

Today he apologised for the cancellation but did not give a reason for it.

Currently in Australia wrapping up shows there this week, Lawson said: "I'm so sorry New Zealand that I can't perform for you this weekend. I loved my last visit there and was really looking forward to coming back ... I hope to see you all sometime in the not too distant future."

Frontier Touring said it was "due to unforeseen circumstances".

Lawson has performed with Taylor Swift and One Direction, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and was first to be signed with Ed Sheeran's music label.

He was visiting New Zealand off the back of his chart-topping single Wasn't Expecting That and his recently released self-titled album.

Lawson made a huge first impression, gathering thousands of new fans, when he first performed as a special act on Ed Sheeran's sold-out arena tour.

Having played to more than 175,000 fans as Sheeran's guest, Lawson quickly cemented himself as an artist to watch when his music conquered airwaves globally.

Wasn't Expecting That hit No.7 on the New Zealand Top 40 singles chart and rocketed to No.1 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart, attaining double platinum single status.

In August last year, Lawson headlined shows in New Zealand and in Australia - which quickly sold out, with second dates added in some cities to meet demand.

Featuring his latest hit, Ahead Of Myself, Lawson's self-titled debut was released in October last year through Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records and Warner Music.

Lawson's fans showed their support with the LP debuting at No. 3 in New Zealand.

If you booked online or over the phone, the credit card you used to purchase your tickets will be refunded automatically. The refund process can take up to five days, once processed, please allow three to five days for this to show on both your balance and statement.

If the credit card used to make this has changed, your original card has expired or is no longer valid (prepaid Visa and MasterCard included), you'll need to contact the Ticketmaster customer service team at customer.help@ticketmaster.co.nz requesting a refund with your bank account details.

If your tickets were purchased from a Ticketmaster outlet, you'll need to return to that outlet with the tickets and credit card used to make the booking. The outlet staff will help you with your refund.

Christchurch - Ticketek

Internet and phone purchasers: Ticket price and service fees will be automatically refunded back to customers' credit card.

Agency and box office purchasers: Must return to point of purchase for refund.
