The first reactions for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are in - and so far reviewers approve.
According to NME, a select number of US journalists were treated to a press screening in LA on Monday night.
Full reviews are currently under wraps, but several reviewers shared their reactions on Twitter. Most responses were positive, with one saying the new film is "funnier than the original" and provides an "unexpected emotional profoundness".
Collider writer Haleigh Foutch said the sequel is "A whole heap of fun. Gorgeous, a bit mad, and surprisingly emotional."
However, not all were impressed; one reviewer said the film is "slightly uneven," and critic Jeff Snider said in a now-deleted Tweet: "What felt fresh now feels forced."
