KEY POINTS:
Renowned New York graffiti artist Doze Green arrives in Auckland on Sunday to work with local artists in the build-up to his big impromptu gig.
The painter, whose artistic legacy stretches from his city's subway to some of the world's most progressive art galleries, will then produce a piece of art live at the Turnaround, as DJs Keb Darge, Cian, Submariner and Manuel Bundy play at the Bacco Room, March 30. His exhibition The Left Hand Path can be seen at Webbs Gallery, Manukau Rd, Epsom from April 13-20.
Green started writing graffiti in his Manhattan neighbourhood in 1974, and painting subway trains in 1976. After that he joined the Rock Steady Crew who first started dancing at art exhibitions and galleries in Manhattan. Alongside Banksy and Futura 2000, the hip-hop pioneer's style is known for its 3D shapes and metaphysical concepts.
