Model Gigi Hadid has given the world a detailed look inside her latest project: designing the interiors of her luxury New York apartment.
But the 25-year-old's unusual design choices, including a bowl of billiard balls on the kitchen counter, a wall of blu-tacked magazine covers in the bathroom and cabinets seemingly filled with dyed dry pasta spirals, have been mocked and labelled as "ugly" online.
Hadid revealed that she'd spent "all of last year designing and curating" her "passion project /dream spot".
"Of course it all came together right before quarantining out of the city," she said, referring to being quarantined on her family farm with her sister Bella and partner Zayn Malik since coronavirus hit.
"But I'm excited for the time I'll get to spend enjoying all the special corners that were made with a li'l help from some of my favourite creatives who embraced my ideas and didn't call me crazy."
They may not call you crazy – but the internet isn't quite so polite. Join us, won't you, for a tour of Hadid's unusual house …
The kitchen – truly the heart of the home. Imagine standing around your giant kitchen island, encouraging hungry guests to help themselves to a fresh billiard ball from the bowl:
These kitchen cabinets are getting a lot of attention – at first they look like decals, but on closer inspection those panels are glass. Yes, Gigi Hadid has cupboard after cupboard seemingly filed with dried, dyed pasta spirals:
Hadid has decorated her luxe marble bathroom with iconic New Yorker magazine covers. Despite having an estimated net worth of $29 million, she unfortunately couldn't spring for framed prints and instead chose to tear the covers off the magazines and blu-tack them directly to the marble:
Just outside the bathroom – a ballpoint pen so large I'm now wondering if Gigi is actually short for Giant, Giant:
This is not a staircase you want to be walking down in the morning with a hangover:
To be fair, some areas of Hadid's home look less, ahem, uniquely designed. A bathroom not covered in pin-ups like a teenager's bedroom look great:
And her bedroom looks serene – although we can't be sure there's not, like, an eight-foot pencil hovering menacingly just out of shot:
Hadid's been flooded with supportive comments from celeb friends on her Instagram post. "OMG it turned out so great, Gi! It's beautiful," Tan France lied.
"Absolutely beautiful G!" Ruby Rose insisted.
The Twitter reaction was — surprise, surprise — less overwhelmingly positive:
