Ghostbusters fans had only just heard the news that the original movie was getting a sequel when a trailer dropped online.
Jason Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, revealed that he was directing a new movie which would continue the storyline of the original Ghostbusters.
Then, just hours later, this teaser dropped online.
The 45-second clip doesn't show too much but the sound effects and camera work seems to suggest it will be similar to the original two movies.
"I've always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans," Reitman said. "This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the '80s happened in the '80s, and this is set in the present day."
Now word yet on whether the original Ghostbusters will star in the sequel or have cameos. Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, or Bill Murray have yet to comment. The fourth Ghostbuster Harold Ramis died in 2014 from an auto-immune disease.
Paul Feig reimagined the Ghostbusters in 2016 starring Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthey and Leslie Jones.
Sony has the film scheduled for mid-2020 and shooting is expected to start in the next few months.
