George Michael's rep denies rehab rumours

A representative for George Michael has denied a report suggesting the English pop veteran has been admitted to a rehab facility in Switzerland.

The rep insists the former Wham! star is simply enjoying an extended holiday in the country.

Michael, who has a history of drug abuse, was rumoured to have been seeking treatment at the Kusnacht Practice near Zurich following a report published by German newspaper Bild.

His friend Jake Panayiotou also told Britain's The Sun newspaper, "He's not well. I can't say any more but we're just wishing for him to get better."

However, a spokeswoman for the 51-year-old musician has now set the record straight and declared Michael is just on holiday.

"Contrary to some reports George has not entered ... rehab but is spending time in Europe. He is well and enjoying an extended break."
