Here's the problem with Batman right now - he's bloody everywhere.
The Dark Knight has just appeared in The Lego Movie, he'll be showing up in the new Batman v Superman film, and there's even a real-life Batman doing good deeds in Japan right now.
Aside from Christopher Nolan's brutally dark trilogy, the best incarnation is surely that from The Lego Movie, a comical pisstake of Batman's serious side that was so good, he's earned his own spin-off film. Which is a problem for the Lego Batman series, because their version is seriously stuck in the dark ages.
Yes, Lego Batman 3 - the 55th game in the Lego series - takes advantage of next-gen console power, with beautifully animated machines being built block-by-block and then bursting into life. And yes, this one includes a whopping 150 playable characters from the DC universe.
It can also be fun getting to grips with all of the costumes that Batman and Robin come with - a necessity for solving some of the game's increasingly complex puzzles. But as a Lego game this just doesn't feel as alive as some of the more recent additions to the series, like last year's explosive Lego Marvel Super Heroes.
