What's the bigger challenge? Emulating Don Bradman's test career or leading the Black Caps to World Cup glory? In Don Bradman Cricket 14, recently released on PS4, you can achieve both.
The most recent cricket game on the market - it has been a long time between drinks - Aussie newcomers to the genre Big Ant Studio have done very well with the new ball in hand.
The batting is a decent step up from previous cricket games. It's still pretty hard to emulate the power hitting of Martin Guptill's 237 but it doesn't take long to find the gaps. Bowling is an issue, though. Unlike predecessors in the cricket genre you don't have that much control over exactly where you place the ball. It doesn't take long - like most cricket games, you just simulate the bowling and concentrate on the batting side of things.
Career mode is the highlight of the game as you begin in the Australian domestic scene and attempt to work your way to your desired international side - where of course the big challenge is to better Bradman's test average of 99.94.
There is also tournament mode, such as a version of the World Cup, and Tours mode which includes plenty of future matches like New Zealand's upcoming tour of England.
