Spoiler alert: This story may contain Game of Thrones spoilers.
Game Of Thrones actor Elyes Gabel, who played the body guard of Daenerys Targaryen, says he understands why some fans are not yet sold on the mysterious White Walkers.
Gabel has become a devotee of Game Of Thrones, although he had no interest in the hit TV show until binge watching it a couple of years ago.
The 32-year-old appeared in the first two seasons as Rakharo, a loyal Dothraki who protected Daenerys Targaryen at a time when White Walkers were more talked about than seen.
That all changed on Monday's episode when the walking dead savagely attacked the Wildlings' camp at Hardhome in a battle that has re-shaped the series.
Gabel says fans have been left in cold after the episode because they haven't really been able to identify with any of the White Walkers, including their leader The Night's King.
"The fact we haven't concentrated on them and we (the viewers) also haven't identified with any of the White Walkers as yet," Gabel told AAP.
"All we've really seen is the head of the head guy, whatever he is.
"You don't really know about the characters because the characters are formless, they're shapeless.
"You don't gravitate to them because they don't have a character because they are supposed to represent vacuous-like empty carcasses."
Even though Gabel only appeared in seven episodes before being slain, the impressive work of Game Of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss has not been lost on the UK actor.
By chance he recently ran into Benioff in Las Vegas.
"I just wanted to let him know I wanted to work with him again. They're the people you need to let know and you need to tell and surround yourself with," Gabel said.
However there's little chance of Gabel teaming up with Benioff anytime in the near future.
He's the lead in the crime-fighting hacker drama Scorpion which is a hit in the USA.
Gabel appears in all of the 22 episodes per season, of which it takes eight days to shoot each episode.
"It's my first long stretch at an American TV show and the schedule is very consuming," he said.
"It's one of the most involved shows and requires more of my attention than any other jobs I have ever done."
