"I think it's less that they're the same person and more that they're two of the ancient beings of Westeros," said Hempstead Wright. "The Three-Eyed Raven has been around for God knows how long, and White Walkers have been reported since the beginning of time. As we've seen, they were created by the Children of the Forest, so we can't get much more ancient than that.
"Perhaps we can think of it as these are two characters with a huge amount of power, but one is a Frankenstein's monster who is driven by nothing but hatred and violence. Then there's Bran, who uses his powers for good."

It seems Hempstead-Wright doesn't buy it - but in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter just the day before, he danced around the theory a little more ambiguously.
"I don't know. I think it's a little bit far-fetched," he said. "But the whole Hodor thing, if I had read that as a theory, I would have said, 'Nah, this is crazy.' So, who knows?"
It's possible that Hempstead-Wright is purposefully trying to throw fans off the trail; actor Kit Harington famously swore his character Jon Snow was dead at the end of season five - but the character was brought back to life at the start of season six.
If anything, Hempstead Wright may be just as in the dark as we are; the actor told Vulture that the cast have not yet received scripts for season eight.
"This is the golden period... I can properly theorise and chat, because I don't know anything that's going to happen."
