Liam Gallagher's pop star wife Nicole Appleton was totally blindsided when the rocker called to tell her about allegations he fathered a love child with another woman, according to her mother.
The British musician is reportedly preparing to take legal action against editors of the New York Post after they ran a story suggesting the former Oasis star is locked in a battle with a US-based journalist over allegations he fathered her daughter.
Appleton's mother Mary told Britain's Sunday Mirror Gallagher called the former All Saints singer to warn her before the story emerged in the press.
"My daughter's whole world has suddenly collapsed ... It's a horrible mess," she says.
"The first we knew of this was when Liam called Nicky to tell her. It was the day before the first story ran. It's so hard to come to terms with when there was no indication this could happen...
