Friends again? Anna Faris teams up with Air NZ five years after calling Kiwi men 'vulgar'

Hollywood star Anna Faris has teamed up with Air New Zealand, five years after she called New Zealand men vulgar, prompting a counter attack by Tourism New Zealand.

Faris spent time in New Zealand when she filmed the 2011 release Yogi Bear.

Appearing on American television to promote the movie, the actress said Kiwi men had shouted obscenities at her in public and demanded she show them her breasts.

Speaking on the George Lopez talkshow in 2011, to an audience of 3.2 million viewers, she said: "I'm walking home, I've got my backpack on, got my jeans on, and this carload of guys - they were like in their 40s, from what I could glimpse - they said, 'f*** you, a***hole'."

Lopez asked her why they had shouted the obscenities.

She replied: "I don't know, and, like, three minutes later, a car full of older gentlemen said, 'show me your tits, you stupid b****'."

At the time, Tourism NZ spokesman Ian Long said no one would take Faris seriously as she didn't have "any credibility".

Tourism NZ later apologised for the comments, issuing a statement.

"The inference that Tourism NZ did not take Ms Faris' comments seriously is very much regretted and was certainly not intended.

"On a US talk show Ms Faris spoke about disrespectful behaviour she experienced during her stay in New Zealand and as a consequence her impression of New Zealand men is, to say the least, poor."

But it appears Faris has moved on from the incident, teaming up with Kiwi comedian Rhys Darby in Air New Zealand's latest safety video.

The video, shot at Warner Bros in Los Angeles, explores several different Hollywood film genres as Darby tries to convince the star of the hit TV show Mom and the Scary Movie films to play a role in Air New Zealand's new safety video with him.
