PROJECT RUNWAY
Back for a fourth season but in a later timeslot, this fashion designer showdown promises some hot talent this year. Some of the 10 contestants have dressed celebrities and had their clothes appear in glossy magazines - although the show owes a lot of its chemistry to the designers' large egos. And talking of large egos, judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia are back, as are presenter Heidi Klum and suave and savvy mentor Tim Gunn - join in everyone, "Make it work". This season the prize up for grabs is the chance for three designers to show their work at Mercedes Fashion Week in New York, with the winner given money to start their own label. In the first episode, the designers are challenged to create a garment that reflects their personalities. And watch out for the next episode when Sex in the City's Sarah Jessica Parker is a guest judge as the designers are given $15 to create a knockout garment for her clothing line.

RACE TO MARS
A manned mission to Mars is one of the next great challenges in space exploration, something that is predicted to happen in our lifetime. This four-part mini-series imagines how that mission might take place in the year 2030 as our heroes try to beat a Chinese bid to be the first to set foot on the red planet. While it's a fictional work, great pains have been taken to make sure it's scientifically accurate as we follow the crew preparing for the mission, blasting off on the year-long journey to Mars and returning to Earth. This Canadian production, while a little on the slow side with its technical explanations, might appeal to those who enjoyed the excellent series From the Earth to the Moon. Michael Riley (This is Wonderland), as Commander Rick Erwin, leads the six-strong expedition that includes Lothaire Bluteau (Jesus of Montreal) among the four men and two women.
