Former Shortland Street star Frankie Adams has landed her first major TV role in Hollywood.
The Kiwi actress will play tough Martian soldier Bobbie Draper in the new season of the Syfy channel's hit space drama series The Expanse.
Adams relocated to Los Angeles in November to further her career.
The move seems to be paying off, with the creators of The Expanse - which has drawn comparisons to Game of Thrones and Battlestar Galactica - raving about her performances.
Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham, authors of the best-selling book series which spawned the TV series, said Adams fitted the bill because they were looking for a Samoan or Polynesian actress for the role of action-girl Bobbie.
